I had so many ideas on what I wanted to do for my project but I felt like I wasn't fully connected to any of them. Then I stare Ted thinking about things that impressed for the recent time. At once I remembered last Gucci’s campaigns, which I find very original, fresh and diverse. So that was my starting point of thinking. One thing stood out to me in particular and that was my Ukranian heritage. I wanted to find out more about where I come from but also be able to incorporate my interests. I started thinking about our traditions and daily life features. The problem is that in our country we still live in soviet architecture and even somehow in soviet structure of life(but this is because of old people, who lived all their life in union). For my proposal, I think I'm going to interrupt most absurd soviet thoughts compared with modern life.  I wanted to make a short film to make it mo interesting to watch and furthermore I enjoyed the moving image projects in the past and I want to get better at using editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro.  However, I feel I need to think deeper about this theme and how to present my idea to audience.

It was different working in such a small time scale but it meant I was more productive. I started to think about what I want to create for my final Unit7 piece and how I can gradually build up to that. Tim helped me with some useful advices, for example I wanted to make big vegetables in photoshop and he said that it would be more interesting to make requisite actual like in Tim Walkers photoshoots. I asked a friend to model for me, because she had trousers that fits for my test idea. I chose utopia about the space and one of my reference was poster with the cosmonaut Uriy Gagarin. I did the decoration during the break and shouted. I chose one spot as a lights to make paper to gloss as a metal. I feel it worked as a test.

It could be improved by having it extended with more clear requisite (as many people do not understand that it was the rocket and the helmet).

Today we had the shooting. I decided to make it in the supermarket to highlight the difference between modern space old fashioned styled models. They are in the image of comsomols workers and pioneers. I added fashion sunglasses and Gucci trainers to make image more interesting to watch. Also we found the birch in the city street ant this tree is the symbol of Russia so it made image looking as well on big contrast. I new from the start that I want to make Soviet styled posters, but I got stuck thinking about phrases. I wanted to make it more ironic with Soviet Union slogans and about fashion. Combating it I wrote these slogans.

Translation:

1. There is no sex in the USSSR And we do! (The joke from that time that once on the TV someone described how soviet citizens live very right life and do not do any restricted things unlike Americans and we do not even have sex.)

2. Do not chat! We are telephoning to Wintour. (This is from NKVD’s poster not to talk about government during repression period. We ironic is that girls call Wintour - the most influence fashion person.)

3. The winter passed, the summer came. Thank you to the consignment for it(in Russian in rhythm, the real slogan from that time)The banter is that without FW and SS fashion weeks the year seasons cannot change.

4. The beauty of girl is not in her brows, but in her working days. (in Russian in rhythm, the real slogan from that time)

We were giving our brief about Marques Almeida and Im very excited to do another designer project. I most certainly enjoy designer campaigns much more then conceptual one I guess it is because I like the commerciality of it.

From looking at the clothes and company online and then in person I was able to gain an understanding of both the brands and clothes. As well as looking at there old photographs which they have put on there instagram and website I understand how the company.

I am not working in a pair with someone I have worked with before, because we could already know each other strengths and are able to work together collectively. Basically, I am happy to meet new parthners, because you can learn more during our brainstorms and way of working. Unfortunately, this time I had very irresponsible partner Seoun. She did not be enthusiastic at all and I had to take everything in my hands and start project by myself (otherwise, I was afraid of a huge possibility stay without an outcome). When we were planning the project she could not able to do anything (for example, when I asked her to find a model while I was searching for the studio she answered that she do not have free friends for this week to model for us. Then I proposed to change our searching roles and I fond a model with problems, because everyone had deadlines and my partner again was not able to find a stir and I had to do it again by my self and so on about the style of her work.).

All in all I found a studio And shoot everything by myself, because we did not have more time and she did not answer on my messages. Unfortunately, I did not do everything I expected to do. My idea was to create an instagram campaign by small gifs instead of film(that could be an opportunity to make more content to present for public). However without help I did only one actual and some conceptual images. I made this eyes effect in Adobe After Effects to make it look like Nomubichi Asai's work and to support his thoughts about the world.

I am not satisfactory with my work for this project and I would like to shoot again and develop more of an idea. I believe that for this project there is definitely room for improvement when shooting, and editing. I believe, that this piece wasn’t as successful as it could have been because there was a lack of time.

Today I started to develop my project proposal and start to brainstorm possible outcomes. I changed slightly my theme of people’s soul fluctuations in big cities to modern young society fluctuations between new temp of life and old fashioned parent view on that life. How young people of my generation trying to find the exit from the past and not to disturbe traditions thought the prism of my country as we are the first generation of this century.

What I need to consider over the easter holidays:
* Models?
* Location?
* Clothing/styling? - Will I be making an entire outfit from scratch or just make assessories
* Final format- Publication? Flipbook? Video?

First of all, I started looking for a location for my shooting. I needed the most ancient street, not affected by modern reconstruction. The street was found, the name of the street seemed to me significant: Divocha St. (Virgin ST.) Walking along the street, looking into the courtyards, I decided definitively with the place of shooting. Having communicated with the residents of the street, I got a principal consent to the shooting. Appealed to residents of nearby houses with a request for permission to shoot directly in their homes, since the dwellings most closely corresponded to the street, but, unfortunately, no one agreed.
I was busy searching for props. I visited a flea market, bought some things that I used for shooting. I turned to my acquaintances and lent them a part of things and accessories. I turned to my friend stylist and she at my request found the clothes I needed.

For the shooting, I needed professional models, but when I applied to a modeling agency to provide two models for work, I realized that the agency's services were too costly for the budget of my project. I decided to search models in social networks and finally two professional models responded to my search, agreeing to work on the terms of TMP. In the same way I found a makeup artist for cooperation.

Agreed to meet with models and make-up artist in order to determine the concept of make-up. We tried a number of makeup options and finally decided on the general idea of the appearance of the models on the shooting.

On the day of shooting, I came early to check the makeup application in the form that I needed. I made a hairstyle for models by myself then tried on the models brought clothes and picked up the definite style. After that, we went to the place of shooting . The time was very limited. I shot in natural light and it was necessary to catch sunlight at a certain angle, when the lighting was as soft as possible.

The working conditions were rather harsh: it was necessary to change the locations, to pay attention to the sunlight, make sure that the models were changed exactly as planned. One of the models, despite a large track record, worked unprofessionally in the frame, it was also difficult for her to interact with another model. I had to build not only a frame, but also help her to take almost every pose.

During the shooting, an elderly lady appeared and I got a spontaneous idea to use it in the frame. In my opinion interesting shots have turned out. In addition, I still had unplanned participants of shooting on a voluntary and gratuitous work condition. Two cats showed great interest in the shooting process, they openly posed in the frame, followed the models to a new location, waited patiently while I took a series of pictures. As a result, I was very grateful to them for participating in the working process, as they well animated the frame.
