My experience today showed me that fashion and textile design is often inspired by our surroundings, such as buildings. I observed and sketched the architecture in the area, focussing on form, shape and structure, for example, I liked the curves of pillars and the lines of windows or the wave of fountains. I enjoyed recording the varied structures in an abstract but informative way. This is different from my preconceptions of 'fashion design' because I learnt that many fashion pieces initially come from inspirations outside of fashion and textiles.

From my observational drawings of buildings, I feel that my drawings became more fluid and free because I became more confident the more I drew. Every new project teachers ask us to try new way of drawing or making our sketches with new materials and this suspend my understanding of form, texture, color.  I feel that I will be able to apply these techniques further on into my projects.

We were asked to transfer 2D abstract sketches into a 3D object using tape cutting them out and assemble them on body.I tried to pay particular attention to form, shape and silhouette. I feel that my shape had lots of different dimensions as I folded the paper to make the shaped look ‘ to make dress works ' However if we were given this project again, I would have made my structure smoother. I would have also added more pleats and folds to add more shape and form to the structure.
